C4 Corvette C5 Brake Conversion
C4 to C5 Corvette Brake Conversion Information
Putting C5 Corvette brakes on the front of your C4 Corvette is one of the best ways to upgrade your Corvettes braking system. It is usually a simple, easy, and affordable upgrade that will give years of long lasting, increased braking power. Here you will find information that will help you along the way.
A couple of notes:
You WILL NEED a special adapter bracket kit in addition to the GM caliper mount brackets to make the C5 brakes work on ANY C4. We occasionally have these kits available but please call us to check on current stock. We only have kits for 1988-1996 C4 Corvettes when in stock.
There are also a few other manufacturers for these bracket kits. A good source of information for these bracket kits and the companies that make is the Corvetteforum. You will find many helpful, knowledgeable Corvette enthusiasts there and it is a great place to check out if you haven't already. We've included P/N's for both regular C5 and Z06 calipers in our list below. There is no physical difference besides color - the Z06 calipers are the red ones as found on a C5 Z06 Corvette.

Note: The hardware kit at the bottom of the parts list is a kit that includes the brake pad retainer and anti-rattle clips all by themselves and also the guide pin seals. These clips come with the GM brake pad sets but usually not with non-GM or racing pad sets. Each caliper requires one of these kits.
Here's the parts required list we've put together (don't forget you'll also need the non-GM special bracket kit):
