Admit it. You’ve experimented with the low-carb thing in
the last couple of years. Sure, healthy living is one thing,
but dropping a few pounds also lightens the load on your
car’s engine at the drag strip. With the ZZ454/440 and its
aluminum heads, you get more power while saving
approximately 100 pounds compared to an iron-head 454!
The ZZ454/440 uses aluminum oval-port heads with big
2.25-inch/1.88 valves and smaller chambers to make 440
horsepower—15 horses more than the iron-head 454 HO,
but with the same bottom end! That bottom end includes
a Gen VI four-bolt block, a forged steel crank, forged
connecting rods and forged pistons. A roller camshaft
with .510/.540 lift specs delivers a satisfying lope at idle
and does a great job of clearing the chambers.
Delivered as an assembly complete with water pump,
balancer, intake manifold and 14-inch automatic
transmission flexplate, the ZZ454/440 only requires your
carburetor, ignition and starter to complete. GMPP’s line
of valve covers and chrome accessories is available to
dress the big-block to your taste.
With the ZZ454/440, you’ll shave almost 100 pounds off
the nose of your car or truck—and you can go back to eating
your hamburgers with a bun!
